Default Anyone spraying through the gears?

Like the title states anyone spraying through the gears in an A4? What about off the line? I have a stock trans with hardend output shafts in the differential. Am I looking for trouble? The car was tuned with the torque managment on and increased line pressure at wot only. Is the trans going to let go on the first try?

if your doing this on the C5 in your sig then im pretty sure it dont have torque management. but i had a camaro with the A4 and i did spray through the gears but only a few times because you kinda take a risk doing that. 1 it is harder on the trans, 2 if the new power causes the trans to slip you could damage you motor, 3 it dont help that much at all

It's hard to say if its going to let go but a lot of people do it. I did it on a stock trans but it only lasted about 6months but I have a built trans now so its kinda of a crap shoot on a stock one. And I was and still am spraying out of the hole when traction permits

What exactly is the definition of spraying through the gears?

Not turning the nitrous off when the car shifts. Such as if you have a window switch and turn the n2o off just before the shift points.

Mine is only on WOT switch. The spray is on from the moment I go WOT and thru each gear change.

If your shift points are set below 6500, then it will spray in first and the following gears until you hit 6500.

I wouldn't recommend it if you want your trans to last for awhile.

The stock transmissions are POS's to begin with, let alone taking the impact of extra HP/TQ. I am sure you dont plan on using a progressive ramp system. My vote would be NO cause you can grenade a stock auto with out spray.

If you have factory clutchs in the trans then i wouldn't suggest spraying through the shifts.

So it will shut off for that brief second between shifts and then kick in again and so on???

Its really a crap shoot. I have seen people running mid to low 12's on motor and fry a trans, on the other end of the spectrum i have seen a stock trans take a 150 out the hole pull the front tire about 4 inches off the ground and run a 10.58 @ 133. It lasted 39 passes like that. Spraying thru the shifts on all passes. I think it was a matter of have a big external trans cooler and an efficient converter. An inefficient converter will create heat and we all know heat will kill a trans very quickly.

To the OP, I would just not hit it out of the hole and wait til you get out a lil ways in 1st gear then hit it. Only hit it with a 100-125 thru the gears but any more than that I wouldn't spray thru the gears, unless you have money to go get your trans built. You will run faster though if you spray thru the gears.

I installed my new converter and took it for a drive. Went from a 4300 stall to a 3000. I have the window switch set at 6400 and it shifts at 6500, so there is a breif second between the kit turning off, trans shifting, and the kit coming back on. Now it feels like a geo metro on motor compared to the spray.
