Angry BIG PROBLEMS installing LT1 N/O plate!!

Ok so the last time I tried to install the plate the kit came with the wrong bolts and I found out i had to grind the IAC valve and the t-stat housing if I wanted that big 5/16" nitrous plate to go in (never read that before I bought it) ok so now my IAC is paper thin and the t-stat housing is ground down more than im happy with and the plate still needs more room!!! what the hell, is there anybody in southern cali (Fontana) that is willing to give me a hand? I bought this a LONG time ago and I cant even enjoy it there are no write ups on how to do the mods. I have a old BBK 52mm if it makes a difference.

what plate system are you using???

You shouldnt at all have to grind anything down to make the plate fit.

I had to grind mine down quite a bit. Just keep at it and test fitting.

One of my friends had to grind his thermo housing... and maybe IAC... to install his. So I went to test fit mine and ground the thermo housing a bit where he indicated. Bolted the plate on and it fit fine. In fact, it looked like I would not have needed to grind. It's an ASM 58mm TB and the Nitro Dave's LTx plate.

It is a super tight fit on a stock application. If your heads or intake have ever been milled its even tighter. make sure you are grinding in the right spots. It can play tricks on your eyes.

On some installs I do not even use the paper gasket. I seal the throttle body to the plate with silicone due to the tolerances being so tight.

There is no other better option on the LT1.
Call me at the shop and I can tell you were all you need to grind.

Dave

Had to grind mine but not a whole lot it's just some tricky spots you got to get like stated above where you think is hitting it ain't and where it is you can't see lol the joys of a 4th gen f-body tight spaces lol but keep at it took me about three hours to get mine right

As far as I know the only way you can keep from grinding the water pump neck or the IAC is to use a 52mm or 58mm TPIS throttle body. I have the 58mm TPIS and their billet IAC and my Nitrous Outlet plate kit fit like a glove. I have been through all the problems on installing a LT1 N/O kit and thoroughly have it all worked out. Any questions, just ask or see my Nitrous thread: https://ls1tech.com/forums/lt1-lt4-m...2-18-11-a.html
