Default Need help deciding what kind of nitrous setup?

Im a newbie when it comes to nitrous, local dragstrip shut down and not sure if is opening back up so if i travel, i want to make it count. I have a 2000 trans am, rgr stg 2 heads, comp 228/228 .588.588 113 cam, ls6 intake, z06 maf. 6speed. Looking for a cheap setup that i can use a couple of times until motor is replaced. Any help would be appreciated. -Jake

Are you planning on running when the motor is replaced?

How much are you looking at spraying?

How do you plan on tuning for it?

You really can't go wrong with the plate systems from Nitrous Outlet. Best fit and finish of any put together kit on the market. Look into their vehicle specific kits

If you want a "cheap" 100 horse power, I'd look into their Brand X nozzle kit. Complete for less than $350.

Probably just run nitrous with this setup i have, was thinking 100-175, thought that would be a safe range for the stock internals. Thanks for the help

Thanks phantom, is there a big sacrifice going with a cheap setup when only wanting a 150 shot?

This biggest issue with small cheap systems, is that they basically wont go over 150hp. So they are ok for now, but you basically replace the entire system if you ever want more or want a nicer looking system like a plate.

The thing I would like to recommend is to make sure you get the safety features.

Fuel Pressure safety switch, Nitrous Filter, Window switch. Those three items save 90% of the problems you will see with nitrous.

Reasonably, you can have a nice safe Brand X system:

http://www.nitrousoutlet.com/catalog...3&product=2891

nice, safe, and complete system brand new for about 800$ including the window switch. These two parts will get you started then add a window switch.

If you're wanting to only spray 150, and don't EVER plan on spraying more, then the BrandX kit would probably be ok. Pretty much all hardware in nitrous kits are the same. They either, work or they don't.

I don't know for sure, but I'm guessing the BrandX solenoids have a .063 orifice which would probably be good for a 150 hit. If you EVER plan on spraying more, then you might as well step up to their Nitrous Outlet kit with their bigger solenoids and not have to buy them again.

Either way, if you decided to purchase a kit from them, the hardware will be good to go. What you really need to focus on is how you're going to tune it i.e. pulling timing and getting a good air/fuel ratio.

Thanks for all the help, Nitrous Outlet 98-02 F-body Specific Systems or Nitrous Outlet GM EFI LSX Plate Systems. Does seem like a better move to step it up to a plate kit.

I loved my mutant Nitro Dave's plate kit that I threw together. Made dirty power and was easy to put together. And I made a LOT more money selling it than I put into it.

I also plan on going with a plate kit once I finish my many other current projects. The install looks cleaner in my opinion and leaves more room for expansions.

Its a better system no doubt. Just have to see what fits the goal and budget. Just let me know if you have any questions.
