Is an exhaust mod necessary? Hello all, hope everyone is well,
Is the stock exhaust okay when running up to a 125 shot on a v8? This is for a bmw 540i stock hp 282 and 310 ft lbs of torque at the crank. Thank you.

Hard to say without seeing a before and after dyno of said car with upgrade and a bone stock pull. On Camaros such as 99-02 like most of us have on this site you can run a 125 shot but the gains will no be as good as if you had better flowing aftermarket exhaust. Remember that nitrous builds cylinder pressure and it wants to escape quickly and efficiently.
It would play a role in the overall big picture yes. The key components to reduce/eliminate detonation is cold plugs, low timing and lean a/f mixture.
