Default TNT install Woes........

Well I am in the process of installing my TNT wet kit. I have run into a few problems. Are these common problems? and am I handling them right?

1. The power ring (old style) does not seal to my throttle body. It fits loose. I tried the thinnest 3m weatherstripping and it just crumbles and rolls up. I did get 2 large rubber bands to fit. Will these work or should I use something like RTV?

2. I have a clear lid from MTI on order. I tried to install the power ring with my stock lid and there is no way that I can see to make this work. Is is possible? I put it together without the rubber bellow and the power ring touches the MAF. Can I make this work or should I just wait for the MTI lid?

3. The kit looks awesome. I am afraid I will have to answer everyones questions about the kit <img src="images/icons/smile.gif" border="0">

Overall I like the kit, I just want to resolve the problems....

the kit is downright kick ***. anyways, for the power ring, it was loose on my tb as well. but, when you get everything hooked up, it's pushed back as far as it can go and it will not move, so the seal is good. as for the lid, you have to cut a portion of your lid, forgot how much though. it should say in your instructions. maybe James can get in here and answer some things more in depth. good luck.

i went 12.6 to:
11.7 on 75 shot
11.5 on 100 shot

lid, convertor, exhaust, THAT's all <img src="images/icons/smile.gif" border="0">

Some answers for you <img src="images/icons/grin.gif" border="0">

Just so you know I do know some people that have had the ring fitment problem but very few. I think it has more to do with GM's TB casting and not TNT's ring. I have been to TNT's shop and I have seen them measure all of the new ones that go out. I do know that Fireball put some Black RTV on his and it made a nice gasket.

As for the air box. It is alot easier on the after market lid then with the stock lid defenitly. The MTI lid works great as well with the TNT kit. Just trin it to fit. Some people have to trim alot some dont. Good luck!

Mine on my 01 WS6 had lots of fitment problems. I had to cut my lid all the way back and I also had to cut the back side of my maf on an angle. I cut a fernco coupler to use between the MAF and the power ring. I am buying a super charger so if any one is interested, my TNT F1 setup is for sale. The Carbon Fiber Lid, Mallory Window Switch, NOS Purge, NX Heater, cut maf ends and the TNT F1 wet kit will all go. I only ran 2 bottles through the kit. Email me if you are interested. I also have pics of the setup.

Your right it does look like it would never fit.. But it does.. I found it is easiest to trim the rubber bellows as much as you can on both clamp sides.. and then start trimming the lid. It took me 3 times but it work out great.. (tight but great).

I also found the easiest way to trim the lid and bellows was with "tin snips".. worked like a charm. Here is a before and after pic.

I guess I have the new design "ring" because mine had an oring installed inside and a set screw to tighten it. I also had to drill and tap a hole to mount the solenoids on the ring..

I had no doubt of it fitting with a aftermarket lid, but I was curious about the stock lid as I did not want to wait....Thanks for the replies...
