Custom Fuel System
While my car is down for the ARE Stage 2 heads/custom cam install I have been pondering putting in a custom fuel system...I have a few questions on the way to go:
1) I am interested in a system that can support about 900rwhp (for future growth)...600 rwhp in current form. Should I go for a sump and a large external, or the dual intank setup?
2) I have a '98 car...are the tanks in these cars plastic, aluminum, or what?
3) What hp level will the fuel rails support? Should I get some custom rails when I do this or cut out the cross-over and weld fittings to the stockers?
4) what size line should I use for the feed/returns?
Anything else that I should watch out for?
Thanks,
Scott
A sump is the only way to go (other than replacing the tank).
2) I have a '98 car...are the tanks in these cars plastic, aluminum, or what?
98's are steel tanks.
3) What hp level will the fuel rails support? Should I get some custom rails when I do this or cut out the cross-over and weld fittings to the stockers?
I wouldn't screw around with the stock fuel rails. I use the Sikora Precision fuel rails from http://www.ls1speed.com
They support a myriad of connectors.
4) what size line should I use for the feed/returns?
-10 feed and -6 return should do the trick.
Anything else that I should watch out for?
You may want to cut the filler neck on that thing in case you want to pull the tank out again. Cut it and put s flexable rubber tube btweeen the neck and the tank. This will allow you to remove the tank much easier.
Let me know if you want pics of my setup. I also use an external regulator. You need to get rid of the little one in the tank.
Thx,
Scott
