Question about a/f guage

Question about a/f guage Just installed my Autometer a/f guage.
Can anyone tell me if its normal for the guage to go crazy while driving (it stays in stoich while running wot, or close to) but at idle it goes black for a little while, then flashes around again, goes black.. if i hit the gas it goes back to stoich tho.. seems like it should be normal, but figured i'd check...

My car was running bad the other day after a muffler swap, and I happened to look at the AF gauge and it was staying green at idle!
So I jumped out and went -15% on the base with the MAF T. Car idled great after that. Looks like the AF gauge finally became useful for me.

I was questioning that same thing too when I first had mine in.
At full throttle, mines right at the border of "Stoich" and "Rich"
