Default Multiple stage nitrous setup question?

I hate to be ignorant but how do these two plus stage systems work? Do you arm the first stage and then when you get to the next appropriate gear you flip another arming switch for the next stage? Hell, just explain it all to me . Thanks.

I had a 2stage NOS setup on my 01' car. The 1st stage was armed for the lauch; dry shot for an A4 of the line. Once the first stage was armed the second stage could be activated by button. So once the car was rolling on the first stage I hit the second stage; which was a wet shot. Bad Idea to run a 2 stage dry since the car needs more fuel with the more NOS you spray. So that is the reason for the second stage being a wet shot. Hope that helped a little. Here's a pic of the setup too.

Or you could use stage I off the line and use a timer to activate stage II a little later.
Or you could use an rpm activated switch (or another window switch) to turn stage II on at a higher rpm.
Or you could wire a switch to the shifter to only activate stage II after 1st gear (or 2nd, etc).
There's lots of ways to do it. I have a progressive controller that has an secondary timed output that I may use someday.

Harlan makes an RPM switch. pretty cheap too. i think its just easier to flip the switch when you want it on. I mean, with a converter, you'll only see that rpm point (say 3500 or whatever) for a 1/2 a second right off the line when it flashes. after that, itll just be on. the point of a two stage is to separate a 200+ shot. a small hit to get out of the hole and a bigger hit about 60' out (or where-ever you wanted to hit the button ). Kinda like a little helper hit. a big shot with a progressive controller would work just as good, but the PC is more $$ than one solenoid and a little line. also with a dry/wet you hit the softer-hitting dry first to savor traction while your big-time wet hits you later. not to mention the dry will pull 4-degree's of timing as soon as it hits, letting the wet kit operate more safely.

Hope that makes sense.

I wired a friends car with a dry/wet dual stage setup

35 dry shot offf the line, and 100 wet (lack of torque V6 needed help to get good 60')

I used the stage 1 with just an arm, and wot switch, stage 2 would kick in the first time the window switch would get into operating rance (3000-5600 in his case) the stage 2 woudl lock out stage 1 until the whole system was unarmed, this was done with putting a relay into a closed loop, and disabling the ground that the relay provided (was pin 87a to 30 ground) the system used 3 SPDT bosch style relays, and 2 diodes for back feed prevention. System works good, hasn't been track tested yet.

Ryan.
