Default Nitrous Solenoid Problem (wont open)

I went to the track last night and for some reason my nitrous solenoid wouldnt work, my bottle pressure was around 980 psi. I know all my wiring is correct because the fuel solenoid clicks and works fine just the nitrous solenoid wont open. I let the car sit for about 10 minutes after trying it 4 times and now it works fine. What could be the problem? Why would it randomly stop working and then start working? The solenoids are about 4 years old, could it be time to rebuild them? Thanks for the help guys.

There are a few things that can cause the solenoid to start to not open after it had been working.

1. Weak coil
2. Nippeling on the piston changing seat height.
3. Poor ground contact.
4. To high of bottle pressure due to gauge being off.

I would un wire the solenoids and run the power and ground straight to the battery. Then check the solenoid to see if it works. This will take any possibility of a wiring issue out of the loop.

Check and see what the bottle pressure difference is when the solenoid is working and then not working.

Thanks a lot for your reply. Your customer service and your outstanding products is exactly why i run only Nitrous Outlet products on my whole nitrous set up.

I just tested the solenoid and it seems to be opening just fine. So i rewired it back into the relay and the rest of the kit and both solenoids are clicking and seem to be working just fine. This was the first time the nitrous solenoid didnt work in the 4 years i had the kit, i dont know what the problem was. I know it wasnt a wiring issue because the nitrous and fuel solenoid are both powered and grounded at the same place and the fuel solenoid was working fine. I have a digital autometer nitrous pressure gauge. Are they known to be off?

I would think if it's digital it's hard for it to be wrong. I could be wrong here though also.

Thats what i was thinking. Is there any reason the nitrous solenoid wouldn't open at 980 psi? that is the highest i have ever seen the gauge get.

Thanks for the kind words...
hmmm weird one. Ok lets do this. With still jumping wires to battery slowly bring nitrous pressure up while checking solenoid fuction. Lets see where the solenoid stops opening pressure wise..

That took a while lol. I have the pressure all the way up to 1000 psi and it opened just fine. I didnt want to push it anymore than that. I am completely stumped, I have no clue why it randomly stopped working. Could there have been something clogging it from opening?

Our solenoids have a screen in the inlet port. Pull the fitting out and see if it has caught some trash build up.

Other than that check all your grounds and wiring connections.

Yes, it is on a WOT switch. I ran into problems with it again and it wouldnt open with more than 750 psi. i would purge the pressure out of the line and it would open just fine but every time it would get up to pressure it wouldnt open. Its probably time for a rebuild.
