Default Spark plug gap

Just installed a 5177 NOS kit in my friends 99 Firebird. I have the TR6 plugs ready to go...only thing is what to gap them at? I gapped mine at .041, but i think for a bonestock motor its more like .035. HELP, this is turning into an arguement now! He thinks they should be at .030. I say this will make the motor bog like hell!

At your power level I would leave them just as they come out of the box..which is .035 I believe. I really think .030 is too little gap. I have gotten away with .041 plenty of times...but Ive toasted a few too. I now use the gap that the TR6s come at, .035 just to stay safe.

I have mine gapped at .040 - It's been working fine for a while now. I'm sure .030 will work, but there is no reason to gap that small. Do a search for Colonel's tech files. They helped me a bunch.
