What do I need to look for before I hook up nitrous on my 99 SS,with 40,000 miles on it,a leak down test, valvetrain, normal wear, etc.

Good question, im in the same boat. I have a 99 SS with 34k Miles on it.. lots of bolt ons.. Thinking of going with the 5177 kit. Id like to know if there is anything that needs attention before hand. FYI: i use mobil 1 every 2000-2500 miles, so the engine should be in good shape.

A leakdown test would be great. I think in your case even a compression check would do, but both optional. Other than that just make sure the engine is operating as it should be. No excessive oil consumption, erratic operation, codes, funny knocks from deep in the motor, etc.

Anyone else have items they did before spraying a motor with miles?????

Make sure the Piston Rings are fill fitted. 2-3 degrees of retard (ignition timing) per 50 HP of shot.
