Default rev liimiter and tnt

Would it be safe to set my window switch for, say 6100rpms, with the stock limiter at 6250? My shift light goes off at 5900, so I should be in the next gear by then but just to be fine if I'm a little lazy can I put it up?

Just set it at 6000. Thats where I have mine. The extra 100 RMP isnt going to matter. Its electronics, youll need a good buffer because it takes time for them to react.

SET IT AT 6500 YOU HIT THE REV LIMITER ON JUICE YOULL FUGG YOURE MOTOR UP, YOUR NOT GOING TO MAKE FLOORED SHIFTS IN 100 RPM, YOULL NEVER SEE 6500 BUT IT YOU MISS SHIFT YOUL HAVE MORE TIME TO REACT

Okay Ragen, that post made no sense to me. You said if you hit the rev limiter using N2O you'll kill your engine but contradicted yourself by telling him to set it at 6500. If 6250 is the rev-limiter then he WOULD be spraying still if he hit it and 'fugg his motor up.' Could you re-pharse that and make your point stand out a little more in detail? Thanks

i think Country Boy is on the right track bass....shift at 5900 and have the spray kick off at 6k......of course when u get that heads/cam on and stuff it'll prolly bump the RPM up a tad

regan did make a good point in that it should be set up higher (along with the rev-limiter) in the redline. I was under the impression that you are supposed to stay floored in between shifts so the wot switch doesn't shut the system off everytime you shift. If he is gonna shift at 5900 there is no way he gonna shift before 6000 rpm no matter how good he is. I would set it at atleast 6300 to give you 400rpms to shift.

No...no..Country boy has it exactly right. Azzhauler was asking what RPM to cut nitrous out in the RPM range. You cut it out so that if you do bounce the rev limiter it wont be while spraying. Rev limiter cuts fuel....and it doesnt matter that its a wet kit ...lean is lean.It will still cut 300 or so HP worth of fuel via injectors. Its just worse on a dry kit. Dont raise the rev limit..especailly with stock valvetrain...it will do you no good to rev higher in rpm...especialy with nitrous. Nitrous gives huge Tq down low and tapers off with RPM. Seeing as how max acceleration will be at highest Tq #s it will be fine to shift at 5900-6000 while on nitrous without losing any performance...all the while sparing your poor valveltrain from operating at its limits.

I would leave rev limit at 6250, set the window switch to 6000 and try to shift as soon as you see your shift light at 5900. If you happen to shift at 6100 its not gonna affect you much...you probably wont even notice, but atleast youll be safe. And if your that slow in reacting to the shiftlight..set it at 5800. And for the record...I always lift the throttle when shifting to cut nitrous between shifts.
