Default For the Nitrous Experts ONLY....

I just purchased my Nitrous kit and installed it, i have a question that i have asked and ive gotten many different opinions but i have to ask an expert or at least someone who is doing this.
Whats the most i can spray on my stock 2002 LS1 without upgrading my fuel pump or changing my plugs? I have asked on another board(CamaroZ28.com) and they told me i would be asking for trouble if i sprayed 150. What do you guys think? And if i do spray at what RPM is recommended?
One More Q... People say not to spray below 3000, do i do that just in 1st gear or all the gears?
Again thanks guys and any input would be greatly appreciated!!
Thanks Guys!!

What kit do you have?? TNT NX NOS...Wet or dry??? With a wet kit I wouldnt go above 150 without a pump. I maxxed out my stock pump on a 75 shot with the heads/cam. On a dry shot I would say 125. On that note I have a buddy spraying 175 dry through a stock 01 LS1. Been through about 20 bottles and its still making awesome power.

Dont spray the kit below 3k in any gea, and make sure you are at WOT also. If you are ya should never drop belowe 3k between shifts anyway. GOod luck.

I have a dry kit from Nitrous Works. So are you saying 125 is the most but safest? I just wanted to run the 150 shot about twice. Thanks

You'd be close to maxing out the stock injectors at a 150 shot. I would check o2's on anything over a 100 dry shot. I 150 shot may work but you'll have to atap for sure.

Did everyone over look this:

quote:
Whats the most i can spray on my stock 2002 LS1 without upgrading my fuel pump or changing my plugs?

No plug heat range changes means potential danger @ anything above 100 RWHP increase. I can't say that any "magical" line exists as every car/motor may react slightly differently to rapid changes in cylinder temp/press but why risk it.

Why push the boundary of "stock" when all you have to do is step to a 1/2 heat range cooler such as the NGK TR55 or a full step such as a NGK TR6...$15 is a small investment for reliability.

I've been spraying LT1 and LS1 motors with 150 for years and haven't had any problems. I wouldn't recommend going with any more than 150hp with the stock bottom end though. Upgrading the plugs to a set of NKG TR6s is recommended.

You should be fine with a 150 shot as far as the fuel pump goes, but you do need to change the plugs if you want to spray. I have seen people spraying on stock plugs but its really not worth it. TR6's are less than 2 bucks a piece so why not change the right.

Also don't forget your plugs will need to be gapped at .38 - .40

Most people say that stock pumps in these cars are ggood to 450RWHP. You should be fine with a 150 shot but I would definately go wet. With a dry shot at this level you take a serious chance of running lean.

Just my $.10

The stock fuel system will support aprox. 425hp to the wheel. Thats with stock injectors. Any more than that and your REALLY pushing it.

After I get my Grtoyhanns installed. I plan on using a 50-60 dry shot, Just to jive me some room. That should put me at 400RWHP

You MUST change the plugs, no questions....
NGK TR6 gapped .38- .40
I have been spraying 180 dryshot(Venom VCN-2000) for well over a year with no problems at all.

I hope you haven't hogged out your MAF or anything else to lean your car - if you have then return it to stock. I would a-tap the first 125 run to see where your car is at. Every car is different and your car might be running on the lean side to start out with. Many people think - "my car runs strong for stock" - one reason this occurs is that they have naturally lean settings from the factory. This car should not run a 150 shot without a-taping first to see if they are going to run lean. It only takes one trip down the strip running lean to blow a "2002 35th Anniversary Edition's" engine. We would all cry!
