So your saying just get a n/a tune on the car then use the lnc2000 to pull timing while on the spray?

I don't have to drag a laptop with me either. I keep a pocket screwdriver and I'm good to go.
Laptop is always with me anyways for logging runs. I very rarely use it to tune though... my tune is setup and that's the way I've been running it for years.

How does this box work and how much is it? I've got about $10 in my tricker box.

Why do you datalog if you are not going to adjust your tune? If it is setup, no need to datalog.

LNC 2000 plugs into the coils packs, wire to a trigger (i.e. solenoids, arming switch) and tach wire. Its also the only box that can be seen in HPtuners for datalogging.

With those 10 bucks, how much did HPtuners cost you?

He don't have the LNC.. He uses a homemade tricker box/switch w/HPtuners to pull timing a lot similar to what I use, except I'm on a toggle switch:

Simple.. To monitor and change what he wants regardless if it's n/a or nitrous.

Re-read. He said his tune has been set for years, he doesn't need to change anything .....but yet he datalogs.

Anyone with a serious street/strip car that doesn't want to log their runs is crazy if you ask me... if the car's MPH or ET is off how you gonna know what's wrong? Nothing hurts in logging. I try to log and video every pass I make.

As for the cost of HP tuners it was $100 used and its invaluable.

I did read it, but what's wrong with datalogging? Isn't your car tuned and don't you know how the tuning software works? It monitors a bunch a **** "live". You never know when something goes wrong that HP sees in most cases.

The LNC will benefit for those who don't own tuning software imo.

I don't have HPtuners. I have a handheld Genesys that I datalog with. I don't datalog everyrun I do, just the ones where I make changes to my setup to see if I'm going in the right direction with my car. Most of the time I can tell when my car is not right though so I don't need to datalog all the time.

When your valvesprings are worn out you can pretty much feel that or the converter slipping more than it should. You don't need the laptop to tell you that. If you do then you are relying on it more than you need to, unless you are looking for an absolute value like how much its slipping.

I'm not saying its a total waste, just not needed all the time.

Traction Control. Ground the pin and it pulls the timing in that table vs RPM. Thats just one of the common ones I do on Fbodys. Wont work on C5 as they don't generally pull timing for traction but rather ETC. There are some other settings that need to be setup correctly so that it doesn't trip it out and cause an error.

Im still learning but what is the difference between N/A tune and say a nitrous tune? just timing being pulled? right?

So if i have a N/A turn that is good to go....timing being pulled with my LNC box is all that needs to be done and said tune will be good to go on Nitrous?

make sense?

Wet or dry system?
Wet system, basically yes. Additional fuel added by fuel jet, change fuel jet to adjust afr. This is how mine is.
Dry system. Spray across maf sensor, will usually work ok for smaller shot, will add fuel through injectors. If afr is not correct, then the tune must be adjusted to change injector duty cycle. Thus you have a nitrous tune and a n/a tune. If having a nitrous tune, then forget about the LNC and just pull timing in the tune.
You can tweak, optimize, the nitrous tune, advantage. Disadvantage, need 2 tunes. You could also run a nitrous tune on a wet system.
Imo, wet system is more convenient with LNC. Run n/a tune, turn on main n2o switch, open bottle, turn on bottle heater for correct pressure, purge, burn out, arm system, then let the system take over from there. Window switch will activate the solenoids and LNC for the rpm range you choose and at wot if you choose that option, most likely. Will usually go off the tps signal or a mechanical switch for wot input.
Colder plugs for both wet or dry. And bottle heater with pressure switch to maintain pressure for consistant afr's.

LNC is simple to use. Also has voltage feedback so that you can log how much timing is being pulled. It is not a two step. It can be configured as a rev limiter, upper rpm spark cut. Btw, you want to cut spark and not fuel which would create a lean condition. Some oem tunes cut fuel while banging off the rev limit, not good when n2o is being sprayed, but your window switch should turn off the nitrous if it's set correctly. But some people will spray through the shifts, so loss of traction and your hitting the stock rev limiter. Or you can set the LNC up as a launch control, to maintain a launch rpm. Can use a switch on the clutch pedal that would send a signal to the LNC to maintain launch rpm as long as the clutch is pushed in. LPE is working on a device that will plug into the clutch position sensor harness on the gen 5 camaro, therefore no added mechanical switch for the clutch pedal. The timing retardation from the LNC can be set to instantaneous, or a ramp (for a progressive system). When the LNC2000 is not triggered, no timing is being pulled. Hope some of the info helps.
