Default im clueless on no2...but think I want it ..???

Is it safe? For the car I mean???

There are so many people who say if you buy the right kit...with all the safty equip...then its perfectly safe....

And then there are others who will tell you if your going to run N02...make sure youve got an extra 10K around for a new engine.

Someone told me about this n02 specific forum here....so here i am....gathering info....

Is it safe if done right???and what is right and wrong????

And if it is safe for my car...what is the biggest shot I'd want for my car???

Wet or Dry????(and WTF is the difference)

Can i install it myself to save $$$?

Can I do No2 on stock engine componets??? (injectors, and internal componets)

I do not plan on doing anything internal to my engine until its paid off....another 3 years. My car is a 99 SS. My current mods are lid, filter, bellows, tb bypass, SLP Cold air induction, Flowtech cut out, slp fan switch.

I appreciate your input. Thanks

Chris.

if you run the right combo you are pretty safe anything that puts stress on internal parts is not completly safe but if you run the right safety pieces you should be fine i have a 98 transam i run a nitrous express wet kit shooting about 125 horse i bought a tps switch a 15lb bottle with bottle heater a fuel safety cut off switch and blown bown tube i have not had any problems at all i love my kit my car runs 11.74 at 118 mph with no internal engine work at all and i think i could get a few more tenths out of it i do run a moser 12 bolt though the factory 10 bolt is not very strong especially when you add a spray to your car a wet kit in my opinion is the best thing to go with it adds fuel to the nitrous so your injectors dont have to spray more to keep up if you run a dry shot it does not make as much torque and you run the risk of not getting enough fuel but that is a personal preffrence so people love the dry kits i installed mine myself it takes a while to do it right but if you have some mechanical knowledge you can do it if you have anymore questions feel free to ask good luck

Nitrous itslef is 100% safe. The reason you see people blowing motors...my self included is more due to human nature than any problems with nitrous. There are several limits to any powerplant setup. They include the fuel system, structural limits, operating parameters(timing, fuel cutoff rpm, rpm N20 is activated, plugs and gap, etc). Many times I have pushed those parameters right to the limit with no margin for error. And it has cost me. Using nitrous is more about knowing the limits than any magical properties nitrous has to damage engine components. You can so easliy exceed the limits using nitrous its crazy. You have to practice restraint. I say operate no more than 90% capacity when using nitrous. If the theoretical limit of an 01 fuel system is 500 rwhp then dont exceed 450 rwhp. Gives a margin for error. And believe me...you may someday need that margin and not even know it. Thats why the numbers i give tend to be a little more conservative than some.

PS...the post above mine is the longest sentnce ive ever seen <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="gr_eek2.gif" />

Nicely put, Al.

On a 98 with a stock fuel system, you're looking at about the same limits as the 01-02 cars. The fuel systems are nearly identical. However, take into account that you're dealing with a pump - and potentially a filter - that is 5 years old, and some capacity may be lost with the age of the components.

What is the easiest and best, and please take price into consideration aftermarket fuel pump I can buy? Where do I get it? I saw Racetronix setup for 260 or something... I think I saw walbro for 99 bucks though... Can I have some clarification please? TIA

Give the Horsepower Store a call in Dallas, TX.972-423-0190. They are also a sponsor of this site. They sell the "wet" kits from Nitrous Express. They will take care of you and get you everything you need for a safe and happy install. You also need to buy and install a "colder" spark plug. When I ran nitrous on my 99 I used NGK TR6'S, and the Horsepower Store can get you those as well. The plugs are a MUST. Hope this helps.http://www.horsepowerstore.com/subca...210&1=215&2=-1

Fuel pump?

The Walbro 255 inline, and it's easy to install <img border="0" alt="[Burnout]" title="" src="graemlins/burnout.gif" />
