Still friggin pinging at 5k rpms....HELP!!??
I am running the NOS 5177 kit with the FPSS and a MSD window switch, WOT switch. I removed the MAF screen, installed TR6s gapped at 38-40 and have 93 octane in the car....i am pinging still at WOT at about 5k rpms. Do you think removing the FPSS would remedy this problem? I have read where some have, or that some have adjusted it. My friend thinks its either bad gas or to much timing, BUT doesnt the PCM read the MAF and retard the timing and add fuel accordingly to make up for the extra air.... I finally got the fan spray nozzles in last night and had the bottle pressure up to about 1150-1175 and ran it one time and it hit so hard in 1st it broke loose at 3500 rpms which i must say was AWESOME!! But then at 5k rpms in 2nd gear ping ping ping BLEEPIGN PING!!! We all three got bad gas this past weekend from a local gas station, caused my buddys car to die completely...do you think that could be it, i have ran a whole tank of "good" gas through it already. Do you guys think there could be some remnants of the "bad" gas left in the fuel lines??? Help me out guys, i am about to just rip the damn kit off and sell it.

Do not spray until you have run that tank of gas out of there.
Next...I would try very hard to find someone with a Tech II or Atap to see #1) what your timing is #2) if you are in fact getting some knock retard due to pinging/detonation.
If all else fail...just get a MAF translator and fatten it up till the pinging stops. Another option is run a tank or high octane and see if that helps. Just a few ideas for you. <img border="0" alt="[Burnout]" title="" src="graemlins/burnout.gif" />

Thanks man i will definetly try the octane boost and see if i can run someone down with a ATAP. no moola right now for a MAFT so i am **** out of luck on that for now. i will keep you guys posted.
Glen , if it is still pinging this weekend , bring it up here and I will take a look at it ! The fact that you told me that it's pinging off the bottle also leads me to believe the "bad gas" Idea a whole lot more !!!
