Changing the intank Fuel Pump on 98 Z which pump and how difficult
Basically the subject says it all. I have heard that it is a pain in the arss to change. What all is entaled in changing the pump in my 98Z? I heard it is easier in 99 ups that you don't have to drop the rear axle just let it hang. Does this hold true for the 98's aswell? Also which type of after market pump do you people recommend? I heard the ARE pump is nice and very easy to install. Plus if you can exclaim any tips, advice etc. I figure it would be better to post here since many of us with Nitrous have to change our fuel pumps. An estimate on time to do the change would be nice aswell to know the time I need to set aside. Thank you for any and all replies.
It is fairly easy to do. Make sure you have very little gas in the tank first. Support the car by the frame. Remove the upper/lower PHRs, heat shields, unscrew the filler neck on the gas tank door. Unbolt the straps holding the tank and let her down, unbolt the sending unit from the top of the tank and pull it out.
That is just the general stuff. Tim98ta and I put the www.racetronix.com plug and play kit in my car, along with seperate thicker gauge wiring for more voltage. This is THE kit to get if you have a '98. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" /> In comes with highly detailed instructions also..
