Default Nitrous questions

I would like to hear from the automatic head/cam LS1's that are spraying atleast a 100 shot to a 150 shot. Mod list includes: heads, 215/221 cam, intake, converter, gears, racing tranny and a few other minor parts. I need info on spraying the car with a NX wet kit. What problems am I going to run into, what safety items do I need, what other parts should I upgrade or add? Can I spray over a 150 shot safely? How well will the car hook on the track and on the street with ET's and drag radials? Also, if anyone has any info on hiding a wet kit, could you shoot me a pm. If I was to put the gas on the car I would want it to be a clean install (nothing showing). Thanks!

If you want to spray 150 I would be safe and drop in some forged pistons and rod bolts. If you plan on spraying off the line forget about traction on the street and MINIMAL traction at the track, consider an ET Drag. It is very difficult to hide a wet kit since you have a fuel line running off of the fuel rail and it is plumbed into the bellow. Also if I were you and I didnt have a good tranny look at a TH400 for H/C/Nitrous no 4l60E is gonna take the abuse of a 150 shot and H/C, also upgrade to a 12-bolt.

I have GTP Stage II 5.3's milled .010 for 11.2:1 CR, TR230 Cam, LS6 intake, all the bolt ons, TH400 w/ TP4400, Moser 12 bolt w/3.37's and a 3215# raceweight and ran 10.771@119.2, just to show that you can run with nitrous cars with the right setup

Back when I ran nitrous on this combo with a stock tranny and a VIG 3200 and a TNT 150 shot it ran 10.312@126.2 and the next pass I grenaded the 2-3 clutch and burnt every band.

As you can see the an A4 H/C 150 shot car can go deep in the 10's with proper susp. mods, tires, and weight reduction, on a 3600# car I prob. would have ran around 10.60's.

I say stick with a 100 shot, get a tranny, rear, and a better tire.

Thank you very much for the help. I purchased a rebuild kit from a place in LA. I talked to several people in that shop and told them what I planned on doing with the car. They told me that this kit should hold up to 600rwhp easily. The kit includes: intermediate billet servo, high performance overdrive billet servo, The Beast reaction shell, oversize pressure boost valve, performance 1-2 accumulator spring, special intermediate servo release check valve, high output pump slide spring, 29 element forward input sprag, Raybestos Pro Series black Kevlar band that applies in second and overdrive, Blue Plate Special clutches are used in the 3-4 clutch drum and an extra heavy duty torque converter (#2 or #3 on the converter list). A special 3-4 clutch release spring kit is installed to help prevent 3-4 clutch failure. I am not using their converter because I sent my Vigi back to Precision and they are going to build it up for me.

Do you think the new rebuilt tranny would hold up?

it is not the RWHP you have to worry about it is the RWTQ, a 150 shot on a H/C car can produce as much as 700+ RWTQ, the tranny would last a little while but that is alot of torque to be putting through a 4L60E, I say get a window switch and spray a 100 shot
