Default Mr. Colonel......

Is anybody using a press. reg. for the fuel solenoid???
i just feel a lot safer doing this so that way you know the solenoid will not lose press.
just wondering if anybody else is or has done this

I posted this last night and only got one reply. In it the guy who replied said it makes no sense to him, I don't know why but oh well. I just finished installing an "NX" Twin Gemini System on a carbureted Mustang a couple of weeks ago and had to do this. Do you think it would/should be safer on my LT1??? Let me know what you think about doing this on LT1's and/or LS1's. Thanks sir.

most "wet" fuel injected applications i know of are pilled for the particular fuel press that is already regulated for that application.. Carb setups DO need a regulator FI setups do not... not necessary... UNLESS you want to regulate the press to Carb settings of under 12PS1... you can do it it won't hurt but i would also ask why.. if you want a better opinion call the particular MFg for their recommendations.. which are safer than listening to the lists... especially if you are asking this question i have to assume.. please do not be offended.. you are not that knowledgable on Nitrous and its applications... Good luck!!

you are right and no i was not offended. im just taking my time building my lt1 and i dont want to go and blow it up in just a couple of passes you know. not only that lately all i have been seeing are "dry" set ups. my opinion dry shots suck. but hey thats my opinion and everyone is entitled to one. so im not trying to start up conflict/war on which set up is the best and/or most reliable. and to answer your question as to why i would do this, as i stated earlier, i just want to ensure that my fuel solenoid does not starve for fuel and lean out the mixture.

Dang Z06, don't knock the poor guy around.. He actually asked a valid question. True, with carb setups, you have to bring down the pressure of the pump to the recommended "Starting" point of the manufacturer. I.E. NOS recommends 5.25 flowing psi thru the jet for almost all of their nitrous systems. With a EFI system, they basically say, "If you run 38 psi, run this pill. If you run 55 psi, run this pill. But the nitrous pill does not change. Does that seem right? What happens if you have a new 255GPH pump in the tank? Then what? The only reason we (myself included) don't run the regulator is because a good EFI reg. can set you back about $200.00. I would (and will) try running a Billet Aftermarket EFI regulator on my nitrous system to fine tune the fuel and nitrous mixture. Who knows, if anything it might help make the car more consistent when spraying. Think of it like what heating the bottle does for the nitrous side. I would place a reg. in between the rail and the noid with a good (NON-Liquid) filled gauge, pull the nozzle out, direct it into a fuel jug with the fuel jet in place for the HP level that you are going to use. Click the noid and set the pressure flowing. For a more accurate setting, do it on a chassis dyno with the engine running and under load. You maybe surprised at what you will find. Good luck Mex...my car is down for the moment but when I do this, I will let you know how it turns out.

ooops, forgot to tell you, make sure the nitrous bottle is off and the line is purged when you are clicking the fuel solenoid....don't want any accident's to happen.
