help w/ nitrous i plan on getting a nitrous kit soon. help me w/ whats some of the best and safest kits available for ls1's. also should i go w/ forged rods and pistons to make the bottom end stronger? as of right now my car has all bolt ons plus stage 2 heads and a tr224 cam (m6). what else might be needed to make it safer on my motor? thanks
Re: help w/ nitrous All kits are safe, you just need to take the proper safety precautions, ie: fuel pressure safety switch, window switch and make sure you don't run the car to lean. As far as forged internals go, it all depends on what size shot you intend on using. I'm running forged pistons and rods because I plan on spraying 200+. Up to 150 shot, you be OK as long as you provide enough fuel. Will it last forever, no. Hope this helps.
Re: help w/ nitrous USE THE SEARCH BUTTON. Yeah, I yelled it, cuz not only have explained this several times in the past few weeks, but I know others have to. Most kits are safe as sold, and you can always ask the sponsor about other safety needs. The basic safety items are:
1. WOT-wide open throttle switch
2. window switch
3. blow down tube and fitting
4. guage
5. FPSS-fuel pressure safety switch
No real need for forged internals on 100 shot wet or dry, depending on actual use 150 can be pretty safe-goes into fuel pressure/availability, and pooling in the intake. You can away with more safely using the DP (direct port)kits as it sprays the same amount into each cylinder vs. the wet/dry kits which normally feed the front four cylinders heavy. DP kits are more proficient because of this also. Due a search and if you still got ? then post them up. Good-luck.
