Default Biggest shot safely on a built Aluminum LS1 Vs Iron?

Im not lookin for random opinions here guys, I am building my next project. It will see anywhere from 150 to 250 on the hose. Will the aluminum block take this with pistons, rods, ARPs all the way through and a good tune on race gas, or would it simply be easier to add 120lbs to my car and get the iron block. 383LQ4SS chime in here buddy <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

I really do think the iron block gives you quite a bit more strength. I know ARE is running ALOT of HP on their 8second car but that is with aftermarket sleeves. I think the stock sleeves are much weeker. I have blown 1 aluminum stock motor and 1 iron motor. Both due to various reasons but the end result was the aluminum motor cracked a piston around 475-490 rwhp and also cracked the sleeve. The iron motor threw a rod and that was at approx 750 (325 shot) rwhp and the block was fine(other than the areas the windmilling rod hit). And I can tell you the stresses on the iron motor where even more than it sounds as I know there was a fair amount of detonation in addition to the gobs of HP. And I dont think the iron adds that much weight...Id say about 80-90 lbs. Moving the batt to the rear and deleteing all my emmisions stuff easily offset that. In adition...an iron motor can be built cheaper...since there is usually no core charge. So you can sell you block....Al
