More than a 150 shot?
Ok,
Let's talk boundaries. I'm running a 150 wet shot right now with no problems. What do I *need* to have to run a higher shot "safely", and how high can I go?
I guess there are some basic questions to ask... such as, how much HP can the stock block w/ stock internals handle? I'm putting down 410 to the ground, untuned, NA. With spray, I'm at 550, to the ground.
I think as far as my drivetrain goes, I'm set. I'd like to upgrade my tranny, but I don't know that there's really a proven way to do this yet. I have a Strange 12 bolt w/ 3.73 gears, chrome moley driveshaft which I'm pulling out for a carbon fiber one (but I'll keep the chrome moley one in case the carbon fiber one doesn't hold up), twin disk McLeod clutch.
As far as fuel goes, I'm ok. I have dual in-tank Walboro pumps. The secondary pump only kicks on when nitrous is armed.
We're basically just talking about block limits. Can I spray 225 without tearing apart pistons? Lifting the heads? What's my limiting factor?

I can tell you this......you are at the breaking point now!! The LS1's cant handle more than 550 without internals. if you are going to go the route of more N20 I would just do the heads too and open everything up.
If you want to upgrade your trans I would go with a Extreme stage 3 race prepped 4L60E. They usually go for $2,000 just for the trans. I highly recommend it, The are usually used for high boost or Nitrous applications and are basically un breakable. take a look at LS1Speed.com and you will find it there and everything about it and the guts of the inside.

From: Texas, it's like your state, but better.
b-dogg,
considering his M6, i dont think an a4 swap would help him with his N2O setup, secondly, have you blown up a motor on nitrous yet? ;D
i say this not as an intent of mockery but to simply throw out a point, i'f you've never broken one, the limits are not set. basically how precisley you can tune the car, and also how you distribute the fuel and n2o mixture define the limits. i would definately look into a fogger type setup if you are planning on spraying any more than a 200 shot. the motor CAN handle it, it's simply that it dosent atomize well through an intake manifold. for how long? thats another discussion all together. I.E. there's a guy here local that had sucessfully pulled off a 250 hit through an LS6 intake for "more than a couple" passes and, only after a switch to a reverse split cam did that shot finally take out one top ring on the #5 pistion. and at that, basically because he flat forgot to take out his hotter hypertech timing tune. plenty of "stock" (as in stock internal) motors have pushed cars into the 10's on race fuel and fogger kits in these LS1 cars. it remains simply in how the car is tuned and the specific nitrous setup.
