Default Converting a wet kit to direct port?

I want to convert my current wet kit over to a direct port, but I'd like to do it in a pretty cost effective manner.

My educated guess here, is that I would just need some drilled and tapped billet fuel/nitrous rails, some short lengths of braided line, and 8 pirrahna nozzles? I'm assuming I would also need to relocate my solenoids to the top of my intake somehow to keep the hit even to each of the rails.

Is this correct, or would there be more to it? My plan is to keep it a relatively small shot (for a direct port), but I just want it to be more reliable. I probably won't run anything bigger than a 200-250 shot, so I'm hoping a stand alone fuel cell won't be needed.

It sounds like you have a sound battle plan for the direct port. Remember to make sure all of the feed lines are as close to the same length as possible for a good balanced hit. I would diffinitly keep the selinoids close to the distribution block.
I would also recommend using an aluminium intake...Lingenfelter LS6. Those plastic manifolds can be taped, but I think it would be wise to invest in a better manifold. And of course for that size shot upgrading your fuel pump is mandatory. Walbro 340 or Racetronix PnP 340 if you have a steel tank.

Take some pics if you can, sounds like a cool project.

I agree, but upgrading the pump is not a factor with direct port. A DP setup will require a separate fuel supply because they run at low pressure. My FP setting is about 7psi.

Fast SS- With my current wet kit I run now, I've got the fuel solenoid about an inch closer to the nozzle than the nitrous solenoid, so I'd like to do the same thing with the DP. Maybe put the solenoids one in front of the other on top of the intake, with a cowl hood for clearance? And about the intake, point well taken. I'll start keeping my eyes open for one. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

Reckless- That setup looks VERY clean. However I'd rather not relocate my battery. Would you forsee any problem with using the windshield washer fluid reservoir as a fuel supply, with a low pressure Holly pump? Or maybe even one of the Jegs Jr. Dragster tanks? Your tank looks ideal, but also pretty expensive. I'm trying to keep this on a reasonable cost level for a budget conversion.

What type of kit do you have? The direct port kits come with a larger set of solinoids than the single fogger nozzle kits. I hate to bust your bubble but you would be better off selling your current kit and buying a direct port. The only thing that stays the same is the bottle and main feed line. As for the fuel cell. I would get something rated for fuel like a Jaz fuel cell. I think they are around 60.00. This is one of those things you want to do right. It will be cheaper in the long run.

I'm currently running an NX wet kit, but I guess if you're recommending scrapping what I've got, it's kind of a moot point. Probably a good point about the fuel issue. Just looking for some reasonably safe ways to cut corners. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />
