Default New to ls engine carbed nitrous 5.3 help

I have a drag boat and i am going to run a ls style engine in it next year. i have talked fairly excincevly to a guy with a turbo 5.3 and he has the same hull as mine and his runs 114 mph... BUT turbocharging is out of my budget for this year.. so i am thinking about doing a 5.3 with 4.8 pistons and take about 0.030-0.035 off the heads leaving me with about 10.25 ish to one from my calculations... My question is what can i expect with a 10.25 to 1 5.3 with a nitrous cam and nitrous i figure i am going to need around 600-625hp to run 11's. Is that out of the question with that setup or is that do'able? Thanks for your help dj

You would have to spray at least 250-300 to make the numbers your going for. The 5.3 will take it, I'm just not sure for how long. We have sprayed 250 on a 5.3 in house for a couple years now, alot of it has to do with the tuneup and the cam specs. I don't think what you are shooting for is unrealistic by any means.

Let me know if you have anymore questions!

I would prefer to have a direct port if I was in your shoes. More tuneability that way, and you won't have to worry about any distribution issues spraying that much through a direct port.

Do you have a build thread or any pic of the car?
