Hey guys I'm new to the nitrous world and am wanting to put it on my 2001 trans am ws6 6 speed. I've been doing some research and having conflicting views. I'd like to get your guys opinions on what brand to go with for the kit and all the accessories for it. I'm wanting to run a wet kit and have the nitrous shut off whenever the clutch is engaged. Any advice will be helpful! Thanks in advance!
I would be glad to help you out with your questions. We never recommend spraying over 150shot on a stock bottom end. Now the key to nitrous is consistency and having a correct tune. Consistency is done with the supporting accessories of the Nitrous system. The tune is done by your tuner but we also sell and Ignition controller that removes timing when using nitrous. This helps your tuner and this also lets you keep your all motor tune on the street and when you activate the nitrous it removes timing. When you are done with the system you turn off the arming switch and the all motor tune is back to normal.
Our EFI Plate system comes with horespower settings from 50hp all the way to a 200hp shot. It sits right behind the throttle body. Makes for a easy clean set up. What intake manifold are you currently running on your car now?
At Nitrous Outlet we recommend using an aftermarket pump and using a hot wire kit to make sure the pump can supply the amount of fuel to the fuel solenoid that the system demands for proper nitrous to fuel ratios which ultimately effect your air fuel ratio of the motor.
I would recommend a few supporting accessories to help you out. The first being a window switch to activate the system based upon TPS and RPM. http://www.nitrousoutlet.com/electro...-switches.html we will have these window switches back in stock first week of april.
Using a LNC 2000 ignition timing controller to help control timing when spraying nitrous. Ignition timing must be removed when it comes using nitrous due to the increased cylinder pressures. You will also want to switch to a non projected tip spark plug as the factory spark plugs are not the correct heat range plug. You will want to go with a two step colder spark plug when spraying up to a 150shot http://www.nitrousoutlet.com/lingenf...ontroller.html http://www.nitrousoutlet.com/electro...ps-colder.html
I would recommend a purge system to ensure that the main feed line is free of air and completely fills the line of nitrous from the bottle to the inlet fitting of the solenoid. http://www.nitrousoutlet.com/nitrous...purge-kit.html
A bottle pressure gauge is used to monitor bottle pressure after the bottle has been heated properly through any one of our warmers. I would suggest using a wrap around heater. They have more surface area to warm and heat the bottle and do a very good job. We never recommend using a torch to heat a bottle as that will cause severe bodily damage of death. We have seen this before first hand. Torches are a serious no. http://www.nitrousoutlet.com/x-serie...cessories.htmlhttp://www.nitrousoutlet.com/lumines...ure-gauge.html

N2O Outlet GM EFI wet kit 00-10000 (highly recommend)
N2O Outlet stage 2 accessory package 00-69002 (highly recommend)
N2O Outlet Dedicated Fuel Cell (optional)
N2O Outlet spare tire location bottle mount bracket 00-33001 (highly recommend)
Fuel pressure safety switch (highly recommend)
N2O outlet remote bottle opener 00-66000 (optional)
Electronic nitrous gauge located in the cabin (optional)
Electronic fuel pressure gauge located in the cabin (optional)
NOS Progressive Mini Controller (highly recommend)
LNC 2000 (most will need this)
Switch panel (highly recommend)
If you have a fast intake, I highly recommend the fast 92mm N2O plate kit with the hard lines instead of the 00-10000. The part number for the plate kit is: 00-10118-92
I recommend a custom blow down tube rather than a fixed one. If you are going to use the spare tire mount location, the blow down tube in the stage 2 accessory package isn't going to give you the best clearance.
You will need for a custom blow down tube:
-8 AN Straight Swivel Hose End Fitting For Braided Hose Line Black
-8 AN 180 Degree Swivel Hose End Fitting For Braided Hose, Black
-8 AN hose, 3 ft
-8 AN bulkhead fitting 483108-BL or similar
Now if you want to run an electronic N2O gauge along with a bottle heater along with a mechanical gauge on the bottle itself, you are looking at 3 different components that have 1/8" NPT fittings on the end that need to somehow connect to your nitrous bottle. The easiest way to do this is with a 4 AN swivel manifold that has dual 1/8 NPT ports that comes in the 00-69002 accessory kit. The part number is 00-01701. You may also need a -4AN to -4AN male Union Coupler with 1/8" NPT Gauge port if you decide that you want to run an electronic N2O gauge. I'm not sure how many 00-01701 come in the N2O Outlet stage 2 accessory package, so you may have everything you need already. If not, then just buy 00-01701 or a 4AN to -4AN male Union Coupler With 1/8" NPT Gauge port to hook up that electric N2O pressure sending unit.
If you are mounting the bottle in the spare tire area, space there is tight so I suggest running an 18" long 4 AN hose in between your 00-01701 fittings to give you some flexibility. The 00-01701 can run right off the bottle itself, and then use another 00-01701 to hook the electronic N2O sending unit right at the end of the 18" long nitrous line. Then simply connect the main N2O line from that other 00-01701 fitting and run it up to your solenoid. So for that setup you will need:
1.)-4 AN Braided Stainless Steel Nitrous Hose 18"
2.) Male 4 AN to -4 AN Male Union Coupler With 1/8" NPT Gauge Port (if there is more than one 00-01701 in the accessory package 00-69002, then you don't need this)
Now I recommend a set of Holley fuel rails. If you have a fast 92, the part number is: 534-209
To hook the Holley fuel rails to your factory fuel system, you will either need FAST 54028-KIT, or you can make the lines yourself, you just need to buy the right sized end fittings and they need to be the correct angle. You will still need the FAST 54028 Fuel Line Fitting or similar. Here's an idea if you make your own lines.
I run a mechanical fuel pressure gauge right on one of the fuel rails also, so I use a AN-08 / 1/8-NPT Fitting
I also have an electronic fuel pressure gauge and the N2O Outlet fuse panel area stand alone fuel cell which I highly recommend. I'm using a fuel pressure safety switch also, so to hook up the fuel pressure safety switch, stand alone, and fuel pressure sending unit to the Holley fuel rails. The fuel pressure sending unit is telling me what the pressure is on the rail, not on the stand alone.
I had to purchase in addition to all the above:
-6AN T fitting (to hook fuel pressure sending unit to Holley fuel rail seen in pic above)
-6 AN Male To -6 AN Female swivel manifold With Two 1/8" NPT Ports (goes into the T fitting above)
-6 AN 90 Degree Swivel Hose End (to connect to adapter which is connected to stock fuel line)
-A Female 4 AN to Male 6 AN Expander (from stand alone fuel cell to 4 AN swivel which connects to Fuel solenoid)
And one more thing... use blue loctite on every single NPT Fitting. And I mean every last one, or it WILL leak.
Do NOT use the blue loctite on any of the AN fittings.
Hopefully this gives you an idea of some of the options you have available, and what kind of extras you will need depending on what options you wish to have.
Me personally, I have all those parts listed in this original post. Nothing like opening, closing, heating the bottle, and never having to get up from the driver seat knowing that you can monitor everything and ensure that it's safe before running the system.
