Nitrous engine builder
Anyone know someone I can get in touch with. I have a lot of questions and wanted to know the best route to go. Let me know, I got an ls1(98 block sadly) and I got some parts but want to make sure I’m leaving nothing on the table with my build.
thanks in advance for the answers

I would ask away here! There’s a lot of very knowledgeable people here that can help. If not call Texas speed and performance or ws6store they post a lot on here too. Just look around on here to for engine builders or performance shops. Not as many as there use to be but still a few

Alright so build questions, internally can I bore a 98 block. A lot of mixed reviews but I wanted to know can I used some 3.903s or 905s for forged. Or I can get stocked sized pistons and hone and gap the rings
second, head ideas? Looking at trick flows or afr heads. Got a pro flow Edelbrock intake 90” throttle body and a polluter v2 cam. Just don’t want to leave anything on the table.
i got more questions just got to think on it more.

A 97-98 ls1 block can only be honed .004s over the stock size. That is right from hot rod magazine. What you need to do is measure your bores see how out of round they are and if they need to be cleaned up. That’s what’s going to tell you weather you need a custom set of pistons or maybe someone has a set of pictons that will work after the block is honed and cleaned up. Piston to wall clearance has to be about .004-.005 usually for most aftermarket pistons. The machine shop needs to see the block to truly tell you what you can and can’t do. Or throw stock bore replacement size aftermarket pistons in it and hope for the best lol up to you

300 shot.... this is all out drag. Gutting, taking all accessories of the motor and going to push this ls1. I can get it to the machine shop. It’s in the car though. This build is piecing together and I have some 3.905s (used) that are of no use to me lol wanted to drop cradle once and get it in and get it out. Want to direct port the Edelbrock pro flow.
for the pistons, so putting pressure on a stock bore piston after honing is bad. I mean like major horsepower on stock sized piston be bad? Found some mahle 3.898 flat tops I wanted to get.
any advice on heads to run with a polluter v2 cam and that shot nitrous?

Not sure on boring and building the 98 motor. I ran 250 through my sbe ls6 using a plate and trickflow 220s. The car did pretty well running lots of 6.0s at 113-115mph. I have friends that have sprayed as much as 400hp on sbe ls1s. Does the motor have to be built? Have you though about getting a more nitrous oriented cam?

It really depends on how fast you want to go? 5.9s-6.0s is easily doable with a stock ls1 and a bad *** top end. If you want to go faster than that, you need to look into a bigger motor. Some people have pushed sbe ls1s to 5.7s with a really sorted out combo. I am currently putting a forged 6.0 in my car. The bigger bore lets you take advantage of a much bigger variety of heads.

You can hone an LS1 to a slightly larger or have it re-sleeved to larger sizes. If your okay with an iron block then find a 4.8/5.3 block for cheap and have it bored to what you need and do an iron 5.7
