Question on Shifting while spraying

I've been reading as many posts as I can about nitrous. I now have a 100 shot nx on the car. I see a lot of posts that talk about not shifing while spraying. Can somebody explain this to me, what's bad, why not. Right now, the cars rev limiter is at 6800 rpm. Shift light is at 6200 rpm and timing tuner turns of n2o at 6300 rpm. Where do I want to shift here. What's wrong with spraying and shifting. I'm going to the track this coming thursday and need to figure out what I'm doing here. I'm old school, so when the foot goes to the floor, it doesn't come up until across the line. Oh, and I have a 6 speed also.
i spray to my 6,600rpm shift point. i do lift my foot off the gas only when i'm spraying,i was told if you spray through the shift it can cause damage,mainly to the trans.i'm new to nos use,so i would like to know the answer too.

I've never raced a manual trans before so I could be wrong, but last I checked, you let off the gas when shifting anyway. WOT switch + no WOT while shifting = no spray on shift regardless. Unless you do the fast and the furious push button thing. I don't know though, I'm an A4 guy, spraying from start to finish. 

I have never sprayed thru the shifts. With the timing tuner you will probably be okay as long as it shuts the n2o off well before it hits the rev limiter.
Miss a shift and hit the limiter while spraying= alot of broken ****.
As for powershifting it is bad for the stock tranny wheather you spray or not.

Well, I tried it today and didn't break anything. Missed 3rd gear at least twice and bounced off the rev limiter. I have a hard time granny shifting. Too much to remember, as for powershifting being a bad thing, I haven't had a problem yet and 3rd gear is my nemisis. I do have the timing tuner and when I missed third gear today, I was just waiting for an explosion which didn't happen. So I assume it turned off the n2o like it was supposed to. I just don't understand why you can shift when spraying. Especially if you have a window switch to turn off the n2o. I did notice that when on the gas, the a/f ratio on the autometer guage looked good, but when shifting it went lean for a split second. Don't understand that either.

SS125 - power shifting is just as you described. Never lefting w/gas, stab and go with clutch. 2nd to 3rd is the hardest shift. I USE to have an M6. Went through 6 trannies before switching to an TH-400 (A3) with all the goodies. Remember w/an M6: it's elbow in and pull from 1st to 2nd; palm up and elbow out for 2nd to 3rd; elbow out and pull for 3rd to 4th. I didn't miss many gears, but the damn syncros just could never hold up to 300-400 passes a year. Power shifting is not good on the tranny, neither is spraying through the gears. But you have to make up your mind that if you are going to race, parts break - no matter what precautions you take **** happens. The A3 is working great. See new times in the A3

I granny shifted all the way to 38k and the tranny was smooth as silk. Then I discovered powershitfing. It would help me to pull an extra car or two and I loved it. (This was on stock motor by the way.) At 40k, third and fourth started to get stuck and pop out of gear. My synchros were scarred but the main problem was the slider keys fell out and got chewed up in the gears which locked them up. Not a big deal, it would have only cost me $20 to replace the keys, but it required pulling the tranny apart. If your synchros get screwed up, add another $200, if a gear gets screwed up, add another $150-200 per gear. Some places charge anywhere from $450-$650 just for labor. Bottom line, if you have to pay someone to pull your tranny apart then stop it; it is only a matter of time before it goes.
I could have bought a rear-end for what I paid for my built tranny.

Seems like if you had a good enough clutch to hold the power you would net the best ET possible spraying through the shifts.That's what I plan on doing with a TNT F-1 on my Z06.
I think it has to do with more than just hurting the transmission. It might be possible that when you spray through the shifts, nitrous and fuel puddles in the intake between the shift, which would make for one huge hit combined with the nitrous to come once you get back in it causing a lean spike and detonating the engine.
If you are running a window switch and a WOT switch, why should this be a problem?
If you let off to shift (I do anyway) it will stop spraying. So even if you are within the window, when you let off it should be ok right?
