Who here is running a NX Maximizer? Im planning on getting one but just wanted to see your guys feelings on it that have used it. I know progressive controllers are hard on the solenoids but NX has a lifetime warranty on them so I can just send them back to be rebuilt every now and then. Im looking specifically at there current PDA controlled unit.

 

I have the current unit and love everything about it. The only thing more I could ask for is a fuel noid offset, to further enhance tuning from in the car as far as air fuel ratios go. Its really easy to use and works awesome. It takes a matter of about 5 seconds to load a new program too. Out of most the units this is by far the best.

 

I am running the schnitz 2 dial progressive controller. Very simple but gets the job done. I dial 1.5 seconds to full power, hits the tires softer and have gotten a best 60' of 1.40 on ET streets.

Thats sort of nice to have the ease of just turning a ***. Can you max out lower than your jetting too? Gear counter? BTW I love the pic in your sig.

 

Yeah, the time starts at 0 and goes up in .5 sec increments. I don't recall whats max time but I know its more than 10 seconds.

Can a timing tuner work with a NX Maximizer?

What would be nice is to just hit one button when you're ready to spray and the timing is pulled as the spray is started.

Or, hit a button and have timing pulled before you hit the spray button.

It just sucks to think that if I want to spray a 250 shot I have to run around daily with less timing, which will take away allot of my N/A power.

 

Yes I am pretty sure you can do that. I have mine hooked to the digital6 which pulls timing when the nitrous is activated. This is on a gen1 SBC though, the 96' S-10.

 

I'm not 100% as I haven't really looked at the manual yet, but I think the maximizer also does user defined timing retard.

 

Also you can have it pull timing at a certain point like when you hit 40% for example.

 

Do you need to use this function in conjunction with an MSD or other unit. How do you have yours setup?

 

Yes the controller itself cannot do it. It wil provide the 12v signal to the MSD to tell it when too. So I imagine it would be the same for other timing devices.
