Default forged or not

I always thought to run nitrous in a car you needed to have forged rods and pistons. I dont think ive herd one person with forged parts yet. So how safely can I run a 100-150 shot well tuned on an ls1. How about the life expectancy once I begin to run nitrous. Thanks for any opinions.

With the right **** you can be safe. I have run loads of 150, bottles of 75 & 100, a cylinder or more of 175 shots and a few 200's, not an issue here. I spray out of the hole and thru shifts. I dont recommend to do that for the trans sake, but I do it = lazy. Using the right plug, tune and jetting 100, 150 is easy. Depending on prior mods, may need a fuel pump upgrade too. I use the Walbro 340 intank. Now if I had forged internals, I'd be spraying a helluva lot more than 200 thats for sure.
Hope this helps and good luck.

There are definitely a lot of forged setups out there, it's just those guys don't have to put a disclaimer of "stock" stuff.

Charlie said it well, focus on tune and fuel and you should be fine.

You can never go wrong with forged. It helps you sleep better at night!

Amen brother! Knowing your shortblock will hold a 500 shot or more is very comforting.

Mike hit the nail on the head. I've had several nights where I went to bed thinking, was that hickup I felt today a motor issue or, the car laid down in the top of 3rd and I hope it was just a pressure issue and not a motor issue, and of course the famous, **** I burnt a plug, what's my compression test going to look like tommorow.

Seriously though, I've beaten the **** out of this stock long block for 2.5 years now and it's still going strong. I can't even fathom how much nitrous I've put through it. I have a refill station here at the house and I usually have to top the bottle off every other day or so in the summer. With a good tune you should do ok with the stock bottom end. Most of the time I run a 150rwhp shot and have played around with a 200rwhp shot on the street. At this point I'm really thinking of spraying a 2 stage 250 shot (at the crank) next year.
