Diving bottle useable??
Diving bottle useable?? I've got a 96 Yukon with the vortec 5.7 w/175K miles on it and am in the planning stages of a LS1 swap for it. However, the damn 5.7 runs perfectly aside from some lifter noise before it warms up on really cold mornings. Just for gigles, I'm thinking of throwing some juice at the stock motor for some fun untill I get the LS1, however I don't want to sink $1k ++ into a motor I'm going to swap out. I've got an 80 cu. ft. scuba tank sitting here that gets no use since moving kansas, and I don't see why I couldn't use it for an N20 tank in the truck. Is this a feasable option? I've never done a N20 install, or modified a throttle body engine before, and was wondering if I should got with a wet kit or a dry setup? Is there a kit of somesort that works on the TBI vortec that could be later converted to use the multi port on an LS1?? Thanks.
As far as using the scuba tank for N20----NO. Don't even waste your time, spend the buck and get a new bottle with your kit.
Here are just a few reasons:
-Its illegal and nobody will fill a scuba tank with N20
-The valves and fittings are different(not designed to flow fluid quickly) and probably dosen't have a draw tube.
-Its much cheaper to buy a kit with a bottle, than to get one without then later realise that you need a N20 bottle.
As far as kits go just get a nice single fogger wet kit. That kit can be used on your TBI or LS1 in the future.
