Gen I SBC Nitrous Usage Question
I finally got my 383 pretty much all together and I had a question in reguard to nitrous usage on a stroked motor like that. I ended up getting a 5140 crank, 4130 rods, SRP pistons and GM's Vortec heads that I beefed up a bit to handle the new cam and such.
I was told that the SBC strokers couldn't handle the spray very well, is there any truth to this? Any real problems with maybe a 100-150 shot on that setup?

My 383 stroker takes it just fine. 700 at the wheels before the main caps broke. If you are running stock 4 bolt mains, my advice would be to keep it around 600 at the wheels max.
you should have no probs spraying 100-200 all day. I sprayed mine with no probs at all. I also have several customers spraying this much with no probs. As long as your internals are setup well and the shortblock is built correctly you should be fine..
Thanks for the replies guys, but concerning limiting factors...you said the SRP pistons were limiting me at no more than about a 250 shot? Well all that together would still make like 670-700 crank horses. And I wasn't planning on making more than 600 anyhow.
