Default Pull timing with Cam only, 125 shot?

Well i keep hearing people about pulling timing for their 125 shots of nitrous.. Is there anyone out there that doesn't pull timing? What is a disadvantage of doing it without pulling timing? will it hurt my engine? need some opinions.. Thanks

Without pulling timing you risk detonation. I'd pull 4-5* of timing with a 125 shot. Better safe then sorry.

hmmm i'll have to look for a cheap way to do this... i reall don't want to pay a crap load to pull timing.. if its too expensive.. i'll just spray it and hope i don't get detonation.. until i can afford something to do it atleast! thanks!

You could probably use tuning with that cam. A tuner can pull the timing, piece of cake.

Timeing Tuner. Works as a window switch/WOTS/delay/timeing advance-retard.

It would definently be better to pay and pull timing now than just hope and then have to buy a new engine.... Just my .02

Not all guys/cars pull timing on below 150hp hits, I haven't. But all cars are different. You should data log and/or dyno tune and/or read plugs. to pull timing just for the sake of pulling timing, you may not need to. You can though, but the extra $$ and lost hp has to be considered.

Do you have any logging software (hptuers/efilive/autotap/etc)? I like to pull about 1 degree for every 50. For a 100 shot I pull about 2 degrees, runs like a champ and I get no detonation/retard. Theres plenty of people running 150 shots with no retard and no problems, I just like to play it safe (I cannot afford a new motor anytime soon).

I have seen folks use a 175-shot without pulling any timing but you do run the risk of going BOOM !!! You will most likely be safe with a 125-shot as the weather heats up but if you are concerned about it and do not have the funds to invest in some type of timing retard you could always add a little octane to the mix. This will help keep the chance of detonation to a min. Hope this helps. Cheers !!!

You might be OK cause you still have the stock timming, but a tune now will get the most out of your new cam and they can tune it for nos.
