believe me man we know all about the expense vs the payouts as we spend ALOT to get all of us out there for the few days but we do it to support the series to help it grow cus if people dont help it get off the ground it will never grow to the point where it will be good payouts

racing cost money and ya hardly ever make back what ya put into it thats the facts, we all do it for the love of the sport

and id rather spend the weekend at the track then at the casino, we got 2 45min away here and id rather tow the car to BG 18 hours race and go right back then spend a few hours in the casino

No doubt it's not a cheap hobby. The way I look at it is this - nice that the hobby pays back anything!

It's a little easier for a shop to make it out to a race than it is for a couple of college students.

Race Fuel ($80 or so) and Nitrous (8x Bottles ($33 or so a pop, $264). Then we have to buy lunch, breakfast and dinner. So it adds up really quick. I do not have a shop or anything to write this off on. This is all out of my pocket, and some of my parents (if they are willing to help me). Its over $1100+ not including food, to win $600-800. I can't take a loss like that. I would rather goto the Casino which is only 3 hours away and blow $400 because atleast I can make that money back maybe
What if I put up a bounty for the quickest NOS combo during the EX Mod race say $$$$$2000.00
will you came

Ben said it best. People do not understand that I, myself (not parents), pour a ton of money into this hobby already. I have been helped by my parents along the way, they still own the title on the car. We put HOURS UPON HOURS on the car in the garage with 5 Jack Stands, and 2 Jacks. For me to spend $1200 in just traveling I just cannot do that. I do not care enough about this hobby to just throw that away. Thats a semester and books paid for. Now when it comes closer maybe I will. Its not like Im in some backwoods place. We have a majority of moderators and one of the owners of LS1Tech that can verify every pass I ever make in the car.

I know everyones reaction is why dont you get out of it.. Hell no.. We've came this far and are showing that we are going to be setting records out of the garage.

we had that happen to us with the ARE car because it went fast 6 weeks before the race. All of a sudden my LCA's are illegal! LOL ! Meanwhile some people claimed under 400 cubes, yet now its forsale and 480cubes! HMMMM. This is why f-body racing will never get big. Just keep knocking out all the cars for guaranteed wins! Hooray! Seen this happen for 5+ years in a row.

I also understand how the little guy can't just get up and go and spend $1500 a weekend. Thats why I never made it out to the states. I barely had enough to build the car! At least if you own a shop and sell one job its worth it big time, not to mention the write-off.

Well put.

I will be at Thunder because it is not that big of a cost thing for us Texas guys but I already know I won't win in my class but I want to get out there and race and burn some of these turbo cars down at the line. LOL

I can't make it to any of the other races either because of the same reason Powell can't........That is alot of money to spend. I also don't have anyone standing behind me supporting my habit for racing. This money comes directly out of my paycheck also.......so there is just so much that I can do. I do hope, just like Powell to set the N2O record at Thunder this year. I know that I can't do that at 3450lbs though. That is why I stepped up to the outlaw this year. 3000lbs might get er done.

I hope for the best for all the N2O cars out there this year. It will be very nice if the nitrous cars car come out on top of some of these classes.

Hey Chris Powell I'm all for participation from the members, and it's always great for members to beat shops at the races.

Sled, I recall the controversy being that the lower control arm mounts were moved/modified.

PSJ, the LCA's we're stock length BMR, but moved inwards 2.5" (same mounting holes but on other side of frame) so we could lower the car more. Purely a cosmetic move and not quite as dramatic as 80 cubic inches if you ask me!!

I would like to make this clear. This in no way was a call out directed towards anyone. Someone from you alls shop started lipping off. Talking like they knew that I didn't have anything.. When in reality.. I do and have been faster then most of the cars in X/M. I will know tomorrow but if the offer stands from Ken I will accept it if I can make it out there. I've got a month to go. I'm doing alot of stuff to it, because Im putting a 565ci big block in it hopefully soon. So some of the stuff will not look like it use to. Like I said when I come back out Im hoping to take the LSx Headed Nitrous record. I'm tired of people doubting me.. My car 1/8th miles good but it picks up alot more on the big end... Nobody believes me other then Houston... so I guess they will see at the race.
