Default Fittings clogged

A few weeks ago my nitrous lines werent spraying like they should have been, 3 years ago when i put this kit on i used teflon paste to seal the fittings, that is what they recommend, i prefer the teflon tape. anyway i took the kit apart, cleaned the fittings and put the tape on instead this time. My question is, will the tape last longer than the paste? or is the tape going to cause a larger problem with my lines? It is spraying great now, but i dont know what other people recommend with this problem.
