I'm gonna be putting a kit in my car and I wanted to do it like this:

I'm gonna have the arming switch, which will goto a window switch setup to spray between 3,000 and 5,000. Then that will go to a WOT switch.

The way I want this to work is when I'm on slicks, I can rev to about 4 grand and when I drop the clutch and floor it, it sprays immediately. It shuts off at 5k and I shift around 5500...so as soon as I drop the clutch again it should be around 4000 or something, and it starts spraying as soon as I floor it again.

Sounds like it will work right? Anyone done this before?

Ever since I've launched my mustang on spray I've wanted to do it with an LS1 car on a tire(and a 12-bolt).

 

Sure it will work. I have mine 3000/6400 and shift at 6500. I have been leaving at 5000/5500rpm.

It will work.However turning the nitrous off 500 rpms before shifting will cause the car to nose down before shifting.

Your OFF rpm point should be ~200 rpm before your shift point. 500 rpm before is really too much.

 

Yes, I agree with what Dave and Trooper said. My take is, the better at shifting you are the closer you can have it. If you have a built trans you might even think about spraying through the shift, but you have to be quick or you'll be on the limiter (spraying the rpms climb faster than n/a). I have stock tranny, so I want it to last, no spraying through the shift (torque).

Someone told me to stop spraying around 5000 before to let the engine burn the excess off. I'm gonna have a decent tranny and a pro-5.0...But I'm not gonna spray through the shift...It would suck if I missed.

i have a question. (Im a newb as well) but isnt that what a window switch is for?? I ask this because im a NO LIFT shifter and occasionaly (once in a blue moon) i miss a shift. and i was thinkin that since a window swtich cuts off the nitrous before the rev limiter i would be ok. is this true?

 

It could be used for that, but more often than not it's used to stop the spray before the shift to save the tranny especially in the case of A4 cars.
