Default large shot with tight ring gap?

on a forged 402 LS2 with a 14 thousandth top ring and a 17 thousandths second ring what is the largest direct port shot that could be safely ran without worrying about the tight ring gap? Would nitrous specific race fuel help or water injection? What is the worst that would happen if too much nitrous was used? The rings are Childs and Albert plasma moly, and the pistons are Diamond. Thanks a lot.

I could be wrong on this, but my first thought is HELL NO
If the ring butts it's usually piston death due to the top of the piston cracking off.
Bigger bore engines need larger gaps, and high power engines need larger gaps too. What you're thinking is the reverse of the norm.

I think unless you're running the top ring very far from the deck and/or running alcohol I doubt you will get away with the tight gaps.
I don't know that for sure, but I wouldn't try it myself.

Basically the more heat (power) you put into the engine the more the rings are going to expand...closing the gap. If the rings touch together, it will break off the top ring land of your piston. .014/.017 is pretty tight though. I don't know if I'd put too much nitrous through it if I were you.

what's a .026 top gap .016 second good for? What size shot?
