Compression Test first or Spray and Pray?

I am about to get the new Pro Dry Kit for my Z and was wondering if any of you guys do any sort of engine 'health' tests before you install your Nitrous systems.

I am the original owner and the car only has 20k on the clock (well maintained). Should I do a compression test or anything on the car first, or just 'Spray and Pray'?

I used to do compression checks all the time (heads, cam, 75 tnt shot). Then started spraying the **** out of my car and well after two bottles the factory shortblock gave up

. Still runs, just lost compression in #7. If the block is gonna go, it's gonna go.

You need to change to colder plugs. So if you want to do a compression by all means do.
It will give you a base to check the wear against. Not neccessary but it won't hurt.

if you have the tester, you could just do it while your changing plugs, that would combine the two tasks.

What sort of compression results did you get before and after the N2O?

I am just trying to get a 'heads up' here about what exactly I need to check for to make sure that my car is 'ready' to be sprayed. I would rather be more safe than stupid when it comes to this.

I take it that that was a definite vote for 'Spray and Pray'...

Unless you suspect problems, no need. I have helped set-up many Z06's for the dry, no problems, zero, zilch, nadda, none. 20k for miles is a cake walk in these cars. I put 150 hard passes on mine last summer and problems none, hurt/broke nothing and runs like a top. On my '97 I started spraying a dry hit at 45k and no problemos. If it will give you peace of mind go for it, but you'll be hurting nothing spraying a dry hit. The Z06 stock tune is also very conducive to a dry hit, works great. Great choice of kits also. let me know if ya need any help when installing. Also, check my web for pics and the links section for mucho insite on nitrous/installs/vettes.
