I used to have a stock block 347 with a girdle (bandaid) with a cast crank and shitty forged I beams that I sprayed with a single stage 300 shot back in the day (READ: ~700 rwhp). It lasted for 2 years before FINALLY snapping the crank in half right in front the #1 journal. I sold the block to a buddy who had it checked out and it checked good. He has the same block/rods/pistons that I did, drives it daily and is currently putting a single turbo on it. Maybe I was lucky as I have seen people break the blocks in half with much less, but I put people who brag about breaking parts with low power or slow times in a special category.
