Anyone ever tried to remove the stickers and polish the entire solenoid before? pics?

 

Depends on the noid. NOS ones I have used are a zinc plated steel body that dont polish for ****. Some nicer ones can be had in Chrome Hats, or tricked out beautiful ones from the NX new line with CF and anodized AL bodies. But in short, I tried a couple and not worth the fight for me.

I had NX noids. I got a used kit. I got new NX stickers and sanded them down just a bit with some 800 to 1500 grit and them polished them up. They shined like chrome. Make sure if using rouge to buff...DO NOT GET IT ON THE INSIDE OF THE NOID.

 

I'm in the process of stripping and polishing my NX and Dynotune solenoids right now. I think they'll come out nice. As mentioned above, the actual body appears to be coated, so I'm only polishing the top cover.

 

Like CAT said, it depends on what solenoids you are trying to polish. Our's and a few others can be stripped and polished pretty easily and will turn out looking good. However, the problem (with our's anyway) is that once you strip them down you are polishing raw steel and it will be prone to rusting, which will look like sh*t.

If you are wanting shiny good looking cans for your solenoids I would suggest stripping them down to the raw material and then send them to a plater/chromer and have them chromed. The shine will be better than polished and it will last alot longer. Plus it is easily cleaned compared to polishing.
