true or false?? A friend of mine swears up and down that nitrous works by raising the octane level. I thought that nitrous worked by giving the combustion a massive shot of cold O2? Couls someone lay this argument to rest?

back to the nitrous.
The nitrous allows you to burn more fuel. That fuel is where most of the extra power comes from. By just adding nitrous only to an engine with NO fuel addition will lean you out greatly.
