Default Nitrous For Newbie

Hey i just purchased the world class 427 all aluminum form Bill Mitchell. I might be getting ahead of myself but im just thinking about nitrous. i have never used it before and i dont know to much about it except for what i have searched on here. im just looking for a little hp boost. around 50 horse or more. What would be a good starter system to use that is safe. I think the new motor wil be fine with a small shot but i really know nothing about nos. Just pondering

First off, congrats on the new motor! Bill Mitchell has always done good work from what I've seen and heard from others.

There are lots of different systems that will give you the hp gain that you are wanting, it just depends on what you prefer to use. Is this motor carburated or fuel injected? This will have a lot to do with which systems you have to choose from.

If it's carb'ed, then a plate system will be the easiest system to go with that will give you the hp gain that you are looking for and most of them will be capable of giving you alot more should you ever decide to pill it up in the future.

If it's an EFI motor, then a single nozzle system is probably the easiest system to use. Also, if it's an EFI motor that uses a carb style intake then you can use a plate on it.

All of this might be a little confusing, but if you could give some more information on the type of induction that you are using (carb or efi, type of intake, etc.) then we can better advise on what system to use.

Thanks for your time. The engine has the 870 hardcore carb and the intake is a Motown single plane....does that help?

That helps a lot. The system I would recommend using is our Gemini Twin plate. The system comes complete with everything needed to complete the install (bottle, plate, jetting, solenoids, wiring, fittings, hoses, and mounting hardware). You can get the system adjustable from either 50-300hp or from 100-500hp to the rear wheels. In your case all you would need is the 50-300hp setup. The part number for the system is 60040-10.

I recommend this system because the new Gemini Twin design works very well on the Motown Intakes. The new Gemini Twin design has the nitrous and fuel spray from all four sides of the plate so that each runner gets equal distribution. There are pictures of the new plate being flowed on an intake here in the nitrous section of the board. Here's the link to the thread containing the pics:
