Default Dartron Sleeves, How much can you spray?

I have been told that the dartron sleeves will not hold up to a very big shot. Is a 100 shot too big? Can it take it for a 1 mile shootout?

I'm using 200's without a problem. I really cannot see why there should be a problem if the sleeves were installed correctly and the correct break in period was done. If they can handle high turbo numbers there should not be a problem with nitrous if your motor has the corrected after market parts.

ahhhhhh..... 1 mile is a little to much- nitrous shouldnt be used for more than 15 to 20 seconds @ a time and thats pushing it- maybe use it on the topend ? stock ls1/ls6 blocks handle 150shots on stock timing/fuel and stock everything else so i think you'll be okay with a 100shot

Good point. I did not see the 1 mile race. I would agree, 10 to 15 seconds at a time would be the longest duration I would use it. Most likely your solenoids will freeze open after this time period and then your in trouble. Personally I would never run it for a mile!

Does anyone have any more information about the darton sleeves not being able to hold up to large amounts of nitrous. I am currently building my motor and i am sleeving it with darton sleeves and am planning on doing a fairly large shot somewhere around 400. I will also be using additional oil squirters and a dry sump if that makes any difference.

Why would you spray a 400 shot with Darton sleeves? That's a crazy amount of cylinder pressure for any type sleeved block. Personally I would use a 6L block if your going to spray that amount. I would be concerned with heads lifting and you will have to coat the pistons. I hope your rods and pistons are the very best out there. Good luck.

I thought that the block itself would be strong enough for a 400 shot as long as everything was tuned correctly. I am planning on all high end forged internals h-beam rods and running race gas in a separate tank for while on spray. Im going to tune it with a bs3. What do you think is the most It will be able to handle.

I can only speak about my car and I have use the 200's. My personal belief is 300's is pushing it. The cylinder pressure is going to be extremely high. If you want to use a 400 shot I hope it works out. That's an expense experiment to see if it will hold.

Thanks guys for your input. I know guys that are spraying for the whole mile- 2nd gear up anyhow, but they are using small shots- 50-100. Is this still a danger in your opinion? A 200 shot would work, If I sprayed from 1/4 mile on, my guess would be 18 seconds.
