So, to run a stock PCM setup I will have to spend....

-$500 for the Painless harness
-$150 about for a '98 PCM
-$650 for HP tuners

= $1300

I think I will probably end up buying an Accel Gen 7 system with the included wideband. I have a few people local to me who know this system pretty well, plus the Big stuff3 is mainly for those FI cars.
If you have to spend that much then you are probably better off going to a FAST or something of the like. If you look around you can probably find the ECM cheaper, and if you know someone whom you trust you could always get an ECM from the same year as theirs and split the cost of the HP Tuners. JMO. Hope this helps.

PS-I have a 6-speed harness, I don't know what all would be involved in making it compatable but you could check and see. I am sure I can hook you up should you be able to use it.

Stock PCM here on the old setup, 427 with a 350 shot. This year I'm doing ET C5R heads, solid roller 408 with the same computer and a Painless wiring harness.

or you could spend ~150 for a harness/PCM used... any LS1 fbody year will do.. id reccomend you DONT stick with the freak year... the 99-02 PCM will control the 98 LS1 just fine... just change the coolent sensor.

HPtuners is still about the same price, but you can skip the EIO and run it thru the AC input wire if you want to save another $200.. its easy to do...

I thought about that.............but I found a deal on an Accel Gen 7 with the wideband option for $1K

Guy was going to be switching to Bigstuff 3 and this system was basically brand new, so it ended up being a better deal, especially when it came with Accel's $950 wideband option

My reasoning for not using a factory engine harness was due to the fact that my car doesnt have the dash harness or anything for it to plug into. It would need more relays, fuses and such to get it to work. For what I am doing I think I got the better deal with the Gen 7 DFI setup.

Anyone else out there.........

With a big solid roller and SD tune up BS3 all the way.If you go fast you need to spend extra on the setup because of the eight coils that are motors have.BS3 was more geared for ls1s,although alot of nmra guys use it.I just put BS3 in my car and it is so much (racer) user frendly. What i mean by racer is it takes all the crap values we don't have to worry about out of the picture.

LT1 car?????? Yeah let us all know what happens... I though me and Tony Shepherd were the few guys still building up 8 second LT1 combos..... If you pull it off you'll only be the third ever to do it..... We might have five members of that club by years end.... (you#3 and me and tony 4 and 5....)

Edit: Nevermind bro. I just read the other post that said you were bringing a 408 LS1 to the clash.... Man a 350 shot 1st kit and 150 on the second?!?!?!? I'm setting up a 300/100 and i thought i had *****.... Good luck with it!!!!! What's the setup on the bottom end to handle all that spray????

yeah my chassis is about to get done for my LT1 car.... the is done.... and if it doesnt go 8's...... i dont knwo what will ahah..... its a 13.5 compression lt1 with raised runner afr's flowing 340....... dart intake with a dominator.......and built to handle quite a good size shot of nitrous...... we'll see how long the block last hehe.... but im not doubting it.......

as for the ls1 yes its a 408 cu in ls1 with a sort of out dated basic set up.... but has been 5.8 at 118 in the 1/8th before on 1 kit.... only sprayed both kits once and it broke the tranny..... a few weeks ago on on a new driver on a very mild shake down pass it went 9.32 at 146...... i have a video if u would like to see hit me up on aim at Frans402.......

we will be at cecil tomorrow with the car if anyone is goin........ nothin too serious tomorrow but starting to turn the car up alittle bit...... but we'll see
