i am pretty sure that in texas you can have in hooked up as long as the bottle is off. some states require that you disconect the bottle while you are driving. the best thing to do is move your bottle to the spare tire well, it will not get as hot during the day and unless you show it to some one they will never know it is there.

Every state is different, but nitrous is generally slated for off road use only. Meaning it can'ty be hooked up on the road. Some states or cops just want to see that the valve is closed.. others will go as far as giving you a ticket if a line is hooked up to it.
But the thing is you have to give them a reason to pull you over. So unless you're speeding or doing burnouts and driving dangerously etc they can't and won't pull you over.
Also you might want to put a bottle blanket on your bottle if you are that concerned about it being spotted.

I live in north texas, and asked a cop about this not too long ago... he told me you can have it in the car, but you just cant use it. He, also said just keep it closed, and you wont have any problems.

Texas does not have a law against nitrous. You can even use it on the street legally, unless of course your breaking other traffic laws. I researched this a couple months ago to prove a buddy wrong, i'm $5 richer now.
