Default Nitrous question

I dont know a whole lot about Nitrous and I am starting to contemplate throwing on a small shot this summer. What all is needed, parts-wise? Also, is it easy to install?

Other then the kit there are a few suggested safety items, like a set of colder plugs (NGK TR6s are a good plug), a RPM window switch if you are a M6 or an auto who does not want to spray through the shifts. If you go with a wet kit pick up a bottle heater if you can.

EDIT: Install is pretty easy, if you can install new plugs you can install a N2O kit.

installation depending on your skill of level would probably take you a good afternoon. also when you get your bottle your going to need to either buy/fab up a mounting bracket. the neck of the bottle hits the back of the center console so you need to raise it up alittle. or if your going to run it in the tire whell then you can get the adaptor plate or make one up, Cat3 made his and is bad ***!

You didn't say un-biased recommendations, so here are two lol. We have the Sudden Impact line of kits, single or dual nozzle with custom solenoid mounts:

http://www.harrisspeedworks.com/shop...cat=364&page=1

And then we also have the Brute Force line of kits where you get a choice of solenoid mount brackets, and custom colored hoses and AN fittings:

Thats looks like a nice kit. And it has EVERYTHING needed correct, including the "neccessary safety parts"? I may have to pick one of those up in a couple months. Thanks!

nokeman, once you spray, you will love it. Just know in the back of your head, when if you play you may have to pay. Too often there are ppl wanting to rule the world but only have cheddar for to rent a trailer. Everyone starts out wanting a little shot, then after a couple sprays we see them going larger. Next question will be, how much can I spray? And the answer is always, how much can you afford? Search for "how much" in here and there should be a few hits that will break down some of the issues, safety items and necessary things to consider. GL

You'll absolutely love Nitrous, spraying becomes an addiciton Kit really depends on your price range budget but you can't go wrong with a Cold Fusion or Nitrous Express kit. You'll find a ton of people here have had great experiences with both, I think NX gets run the most.

Spark plugs and window switch would be add on. For a complete set up figure those two items along with a fuel pressure safety switch, which can be had for round $150 ish. Let us know if you have any other questions.

Thanks,
Matt

Extras depends on really how much you're going to want to spray

nokeman, may I suggest you call, or pm each of the sponsors and and list what YOU want and ask their prices. Look at the price sure, but look at the components, and service you get from each. Look through sponsor feedback forum for the props and whatnots given to said sponsors from users. Try to compare apples to apples. Just because two kits seem similar, doesnt mean the total package will be! GL

No, no window switch or FPSS. I'm not aware of any nitrous kit that comes with a RPM window switch, it's an add on item. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Thanks,
Matt

Yea, it's hard to include a ws into a kit, as there are so many types/styles to choose from. Some kits do include FPSS, NHRA blow down kit, n2o gauge and other goodies, and some don't. So, consider the package deals as a better $$ overall investment, that is compared to piece mealing. Good luck.

nokeman, once you decide where you want to get your supplies, make sure to ask for a nitrous filter PLEASE. I'd hate to see you post up days after install saying its sputtering etc...

Thanks for all the info guys. So a kit with all the safety stuff is going to be more expensive just around $400 for a base kit correct? So when its all said and done, how much is it going to cost me for EVERYTHING, If I do the install myself?

For everything you can go anywhere from about $900 to $1800+ depending on what exactly you go for. I can tell you, it may in your best interest to get something like a plate system, NX MAF kit, or similar the first time, as it sucks trying to "upgrade" later.

The NX MAF kit is dry right? Is that going to end up being cheaper and can I get at least 100 shot out of it?
