mallory timing
took it to the dyno, found out i needed a fuel pump. got a walbro, and on motor it pulls right through the gears no problem. so i put a 60 shot in leave the timing at 1.0 on the mallory and it doesnt pop or anything.
so i put the 150 jets in (dont have anything in between) back the timing down to 6.0 and hit it from 45 and it popped, surged, etc.
so i figured i needed to take more timing out, so i took it all the way to 15 (that is the most u can do with the mallory) and the car sounded like a machine gun, barely moved forward.
ok so 15 is definetly not a turn in the right direction, lol.
so i put it back to 1.0 (as low as it goes) and do another pull from 45. it pulled HARD. popped, surged 2 times in 2nd gear, then i got out of it once it popped the 1st time in 3rd.
so here is where i am confused, i bought the mallory to retard the timing for bigger shots, but it seems like retarding the timing is making the car run like ****.
seems pointless to even have it in there, well besides the fact i am using it as a window switch as well.
what do u guys think?
where do i go from here?
if it pulls great at the factory setting with a lil hesitation, pulls a lil with it at 6, then does absolutely nothing at 15. it seems i need to go back some more, but this unit is not capable of doing that, unless i am doing something wrong.
sorry for the long post, but i would really like to spray the car to its full potential.
