Default nitrous piston

which is better for a nitrous piston: Dome or a Flat Top. also what is the ideal compression ratio for a nitrous motor?

Neither piston is "better". There really isnt an ideal compression for nitrous, nitorus kicks *** no matter what the compression is. If I was building a strictly nitrous race car though i would go high.

2618 alloy is better than 4032 for nitrous.

ost all out nitrous moters are 15-1 +. For a daily driver on pump gas though 11.5-1 would be as much as I'd run. I have domed pistons in the new engine the 346 had flat tops in it.

As long as you can get the compression that you want from a flat top I would say they are better than a domed. Mainly for the reason that they generally don't require as much timing and tend to have better flame travel. Although most of the time if you want real high compression you don't have much choice but to run a domed piston.

I agree fully with srsnow, a flat top piston or even dish piston produces the best combustion because it has the best airflow ( no dome to go over ) but if your going high CR you cant go either because you cant just take a heads all the way down there are limits for milling.
