Default Noob N2O question - how long can a bottle be left open???

I am wondering how long a 10lb bottle can be left open without damaging any parts. I have read that the noids can be damaged if the bottle is left open for too long.

The reason I ask is because I don't want to buy a remote bottle opener if I don't have to. I am planning on mounting the bottle in the spare tire compartment. I was thinking that I a could open the bottle before I go out and look for some street races and then close it when I get home. So I am guessing the bottle will only be open for about an hour at the most. Is that going to hurt anything? THANKS.

I used to leave mine open from the time the bottle was filled until empty, sometimes a matter of hours, other times days, or even weeks. Never had an issue.
Note: This was my experience, and is not intended to misguide you away from manufacturers warnings. I don't recommend leaving them open during hot weather either.

It won't damage anything. You'll probably just lose nitrous if there's a small leak in a connection somewhere and you leave it on for long periods of time.

It can at times cause plungers to swell, although with the newer teflon plungers this may not be as much of a problem.
