I would put atleast a 1000 miles on it. Make sure you do not run synthetic oil....

I'd put 3-4k miles on it. I bought a GM crate motor and it **** itself (I didn't even have to help it this time) in 4k miles, and I broke it in properly and everything. The car literally never saw over 4k RPMs the whole time it was in the car.
