Newbie Nitrous Question
It may be a stupid question but me and a guy at work got in an arguement about it. He says that to judge the amount of nitrous to use in a shot you take 30% of your horsepower and that it will be fine. This makes no sense to me cause you can have a block rated at 550hp and have 500hp. So a 30% shot would be a 150 shot. So that would be like pumping 650 hp through the engine and he thinks it would be just fine. I don't know if this makes any sense to anyone else but has anyone heard anything like this. I just wanted to ask before I continue to call him a dumbass.
I've read that a general rule of thumb for stock motors is approximately 20hp per cylinder. I.E. 4cyl=80, 6cyl=120, 8cyl=160. I can't remember where I read that... I know it was in one of the N2O companies' FAQ sections. For "built" motors... Well, I guess it just depends on how "built" it really is.
